What Were the Differences Between Slavery in These Regions and Capitalism?
What Were the Differences Between Slavery in These Regions and Capitalism? The online class, 'What Were the Differences Between Slavery in These Regions and Capitalism?' was created by David J. Crowe. It is intended to provide answers to the question of what made certain groups of people more willing to work for wages than others.David Crowe did not leave any behind-ground questions behind. As the research carried out in the class showed, there were a number of powerful elements that made human beings uncomfortable, especially when it came to their lives and their families. Yet they still have to work in these regions. There is no question about it.One of the first thoughts that comes to most minds after hearing about how slaves lived would be the connection with the slave trade, and the slave and criminal activities that were part of it. This is not the case. In fact, Crowe provided in his class a different explanation. He discussed the trade between Britain and the American colonies , which also had enslaved people living there. Not many people would think of the British as having created a system that was not only abusive but also exploitative. The contrast between the slaves in the United States and the workers in the British colonies was nothing like the contrast between those in Africa and those in the Americas. Crowe stated that the reason the British used slaves was because they needed people for their workforce. And the reason why Americans needed the workers is because they had a need for money. This explained why there was no violent resistance in the colonies. In fact, the slave trade and the general exploitation made Americans accept slavery. Thus, the act of forced labor, which was part of slavery, became the only difference between them. The only thing that differed was the payment. On the other hand, the act of enslaving people made the American settlers understand what was happening. This is why, in America, they could become slaves while not having to risk everything they had just to go out to find a better life. They did not have to risk anything because they had already paid the price of slavery. The experience of slavery in America also changed the way Americans looked at other nations and groups. They could now be against colonialism. This was something that changed history.
